Yeti To Eat FAQ
Quick answers about the app that ends the “where do you want to eat?” standoff.
Don’t let hunger win, tame the Yeti within!
Getting started
Does Yeti To Eat work on Android and iPhone?
Yes. Yeti To Eat is available for both iPhone (iOS) and Android phones. Your account data will follow you if you switch devices and keep the same account information.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. Yeti To Eat looks up live restaurant information such as hours, ratings and directions, so it needs a data or Wi-Fi connection. It also uses your phone’s location to find places near you.
Why does Yeti To Eat need my location?
Your location lets the app suggest restaurants that are actually close to you and give accurate distances and directions. You can turn location access off in your phone settings, but restaurant picks won’t work without it.
Picking a restaurant
How does Yeti know what I want?
You tell it. On the Preferences screen you can choose:
- The vibe — casual and comfy, upscale, romantic, trendy or lively
- Dietary needs — vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, keto, halal, kosher and more
- Accessibility — pet-friendly, kid-friendly, mobility accessible or sensory friendly
- Drinks — craft beer, wine, cocktails or zero-proof
- Sourcing — farm-to-table, local or eco-friendly
- Discovery — a hidden gem, a local icon or a chef-driven kitchen
Pick “No Preference,” or Go Wild, and Yeti chooses freely.
What happens when I shake my phone?
The screen bubbles like a magic 8-ball, a glowing ice die spins, and a restaurant pick appears with its name, distance and rating. From there you can get directions, add it to your Yum List, or banish it to the backwoods.
Do I have to shake my phone?
No. Shake is the default, but you can switch to Tap or Swipe in your preferences if shaking isn’t convenient or comfortable. (Recommended at fancy restaurants.)
What’s the difference between Go Wild and Use My Preferences?
Go Wild picks any nearby restaurant with no filters and earns the most Yeti Points. Use My Preferences narrows the pick to places that match your settings. The fewer filters you use, the more points you earn.
Can I rely on dietary filters for allergies?
Use them as a starting point, not a guarantee. Dietary filters are based on information restaurants and listing services publish, which can be incomplete or out of date. If you have a food allergy or a religious dietary requirement, always confirm with the restaurant before you order.
Lists and friends
What are the Yum List and the Banished List?
Your Yum List holds restaurants you love. Your Banished List holds places you never want suggested again. Swipe right to add a place to Yum, or left to banish it, and sort either list by distance, date or rating.
What is Yeti Link?
Yeti Link is a coming soon upgrade that settles group decisions. Up to four people scan each other’s Yeti QR codes, and the app merges everyone’s Yum Lists to find a restaurant you all like. If there’s no overlap, it picks a spot that works for everyone’s location. No more food fights.
Can I customize my Yeti?
Customization is a coming soon upgrade. Choose your Yeti’s fur color, accessories and expression. Saving your avatar also creates your personal QR code, which friends scan to join you in Chompanion Mode.
Points and pricing
How do I earn Yeti Points?
You earn points for creating your account, completing your preferences setup going wild. Going wild earns the most. Top earners appear on the future leaderboard.
What can I redeem my points for?
Points will unlock exclusive, limited-run Yeti merch — hats, shirts, mugs and collectibles — plus avatar extras. Redeeming a reward resets your points balance. Watch your Yeti. It's coming soon!
How much does Yeti To Eat cost?
Yeti To Eat is $0.99 per month. Your subscription includes setting and modifying your preferences, radius from where you are located at that time and your daily Go Wild restaurant reveal.
Privacy
Is my information safe?
Yes. You sign in securely with Google, Apple or email, all data travels over encrypted connections, and your account data can only be accessed by you. Raw location data isn’t kept longer than 30 days.
